MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT - CLUB REBRAND

On the 28th of August, the Gepps Cross Futsal Club posted on its Social Media accounts that the club’s senior Men’s and Women’s teams would be no more.

After discussions with interested parties, we are pleased to announce that the Gepps Cross Futsal Club's senior Men’s and Women’s teams will be participating in the upcoming SA State Futsal League and the W-SA State Futsal League commencing this October.

These new South Australian Futsal Leagues are being supported by El Abrahams, CEO of Pro Futsal alongside current SAFL Commissioner, Raff Frisina. There has been an overwhelming amount of support for the Gepps Cross Futsal Club since the announcement three weeks ago.

“Gepps Cross is the spiritual home of Futsal in South Australia and the club must be maintained in the new format league as an icon of the original South Australian Futsal League”, said Frisina.

Founder of the Gepps Cross Futsal Club, Lewis Pounentis, received many messages and calls of support to retain the Men’s and Women’s teams in the competition. “We have been a mainstay in the SAFL since our foundation in 2014. To lose our club and its footprint within Australian Futsal would be a major loss. We have built many great relationships with Futsal clubs and individuals across Australia and even overseas over the past five years and I am glad that this is going to continue in the form of a rebadged Gepps Cross Futsal Club".

As we embark on this new era in the clubs history, a full club rebrand has been put in place, with new logos, kits and sponsors. Gepps Cross Futsal Club has also adopted a new nickname, 'The Knights' . The time has arrived for a rebranding of the club now that we are a part of the newly established Futsal league.

Over the last two weeks, Pounentis has been busy recruiting players for both the men’s and women’s teams and has both teams ready for Round 1 in October. Goalkeeper Caleb Odzak & experienced anchor Adrian Kiratidis are already confirmed signings, with further announcements of players that will be a part of the new look Knights outfit to be made over the coming weeks.

Pounentis will take a back-seat role as part of the Gepps Cross Futsal Club involving himself in recruitment, player management and working on establishing teams to play in the Draft League and Junior Leagues which will follow on after the commencement of the senior competitions.
